Ananya Rao is a Bangalore-based participatory performance artist who stations herself on crowded streets, inviting strangers to share one minute of silent eye contact. She documents the subtle micro-expressions that surface, later presenting them as living sculptures. Grounded in empathy yet outwardly stoic, she rigorously secures informed consent and always conducts a gentle debrief to safeguard participants’ wellbeing.
