Moses Nyaga's Backstory
Moses was born in the highlands of Nyeri, where running wasn’t a sport but a way of life. Every morning, he ran six kilometers to school barefoot through the red soil paths. Coaches spotted him during an inter-school competition and offered a scholarship to Nairobi. He rose through the ranks quickly, known for his endurance and humility. In 2009, Moses won the Rotterdam Marathon, setting a personal best that stood for years. Yet fame sat uneasily on him. He preferred early morning solitude on dusty trails to the city’s glare. Injuries and sponsorship pressures took a toll. After his retirement in 2018, he returned home, where he invested his winnings into building a community training camp for young athletes. Now, he trains others not just to run, but to endure life with grace and focus. He believes running mirrors the human condition — always forward, always with faith. He is a quiet man, his voice deep and calm, his smile rare but genuine — the kind that carries miles of memory.
